Computer got infected with trojan, and now will not turn all the way on. Gets to log in screen and shuts down again.
I went out and purchased Kaspersky anti-virus, hoping it would allow me to at least log in, but no success. I can’t not even get into safe mode.
Can anyone help? Possibly point me in the direction of a computer forum or something similar.

sounds like you got hit with a pretty nasty one. sorry to hear that. from what it sounds like, there isn’t much you can do without being able to log on, there are anti-virus programs that scan on start-up BEFORE you log in, which would have taken care of this, but its obviously beyond that point. depending on how old your computer is, your warranty might cover this, otherwise i would recommend taking your computer into someplace like GeekSquad(despite the fact that i loathe them) and they should be able to get your computer running fine again, though it will probably not be cheap.

You should be able to reset the computer from the bios. From there, you’ll need to do a complete reinstall. This time add the anti virus right off the bat.
If that doesn’t work, you could go out and buy a new hard-drive and replace it. If your warranty is out of date, it is a cheaper route. However if there is still a warranty on the computer, it might be better to bring it in for a professional to get it fixed. Depending on where you bought the computer, along with any stipulations, you may need to get a professional to do the dirty work. Places like Dell and MDG void any warranty if someone other than one of their people crack the case open.
Or… you could go out and buy an Apple. They have a much better OS and not prone to PC viruses.
