computer hard drive failur|how can i retrieve data from a dead hard drive?

Question–: how can i retrieve data from a dead hard drive?
i had a hard drive with a lot of viruses on, i tried to add as a slave on another computer but unfortunetly there is something happened to the hard it started to make a noise, i have a lot of data on it a library database with all the books records, and i need that data, when i connected the hard again to the original computer it said system failur insert disk and press enter, it cant read the hard drive, nothing wrong with the data cables, the hard is dead, and it still doing the same noise. how can i get the data on it again?

you’re best bet (and i’m only giving it about a 30% chance of success) is to download & burn ubuntu linux and use that to access the drive
i’m guessing it’s a physical crash and you can’t. so good luck
in the future, make sure you keep better backups, especially of something that important

Q&A–: I need help with a computer problem?
My sons computer will not boot from the hard drive and we just got it today from a friend.
My son said it was working when he put his operating system on it but when he plugged in his flash drive it stoped and now it says media test failur but the hard drive is working and running.
He said he set everything to what its supposed to.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!

be sure the boot sequence on the setup is right. What sort of computer is that any way if it’s a desktop PC then upon boot press delete key to enter to set up and from there load optimize defaults press F10 to save exit and restart pc. Be sure no other boot devices are running like cd rom and floppy disk . Gud Luck

Remove the pen drive and press the restart button the PC case. If you have already it may mean that the Hard-drive isn’t the Master and is now the Slave while the Pen Drive became the Master, which basically means that your PC is trying to boot the Operating System from the Pen Drive instead of the Hard-dirve.

Do one thing, first remove the pen drive, and reboot your system then press F8 regulary on initial booting time, then you can get one window .. safe mode, normal mode etc.. you choose last known as good menu from the showing menus. then enter. may be it will solved.

Reboot the computer and then keep hitting the Esc key until you see the BIOS text screen, check the drive boot order and make sure that the HDD is number 1. The CD or DVD drive should be second. The floppy drive should be third in line. When you exit press the “Exit and Save” option and answer “Yes”. He probably had to change the boot order to install the operating system and didn’t change it back after he got done. Been there, done that!
