Are you frustrated because it takes over 10 minutes for you to shutdown your computer? Do you want to learn how to increase your Windows shutdown time? Having a slow Windows shutdown is not uncommon. As time passes, the time it takes you to shutdown your computer will gradually take longer. Below are a couple of ways to increase the speed that you can shut down your computer.

One solution that you may resolve your slow computer shutdown speed is by tampering with your computer’s virtual memory. What you will want to do first is open your group policy editor. Next, click Start on your task bar and select Run. Once you have the prompt open, type “Secpol.msc.” Once you have this program open, click local properties and security options on the right hand panel. Find “Shutdown: Clear Virtual Memory Pagefile.” Once you have found this, set it to disable.

If this does not work, then you may have to manually turn off the programs running in the background that are causing your computer to have a slow shutdown speed. To do this, you will need to open up your task manager by hitting CTRL-ALT-DEL all together. Once you have your task manager open, select “End Process” for all the application that are not essential. Then try to shut down your computer again and see if the speed has improved.

When this method does not work as well, then this means that you may have a corrupted Windows registry. Your Windows registry is the engine that runs your operating system. If there is something corrupt in your registry, your computer may not be able to run and function smoothly. Logically, this means that if you fix your windows registry, you will be able to solve the problem of having a slow Windows shutdown time.

You can try to fix your windows registry yourself, however this method is not recommended. By deleting or tampering with the registry if you are inexperienced, you can cause more errors to arise. The best and safest way to ensure that you do not mess up your windows registry is by using a registry cleaner.

A registry cleaner is a automated program that is designed to maintain, repair and remove any errors you may have in your windows registry. By using a program like this, you will be able to restore your computer back to its original out-of-box state.

So, if those methods did not work to speed up your computers shutdown time, I highly recommend that you use a registry cleaner to free your from all your computer errors. Note that there are a lot of registry cleaners that claim to be effective in restoring your windows registry. Only 10% of them actually do the trick and really work.
