My External hard drive is not working with any computer. I hooked it up to my laptop and it shuts everything down, but the laptop runs fine without it. I tried hooking it up with another computer and it did the same thing. As soon as i unhooked it the computer worked fine. Is this a virus or something can i chkdsk check it? Please help me….

The drive could be corrupted FROM a virus, old age or even just plain manufacturing defect. I suggest to check the connections from the hard drive to your computer and to even open the external hard drive up and check the connection inside. Allowing the external hard drive to turn off your laptop like that could cause a drive error as well in your laptop.
Good Luck!
