my computer shutdowns itself in 10 min once i start it. i had this for over 3 days now. whats the problem? how can i fix it?

sometimes when im on the computer my feet hit plugs and they make my laptop shut on and off. it could also be a problem with the battery if its a laptop, but if a regular computer then it might have a virus to where your computer is programed to shut off when it encounters a virus.

Sounds like either a power supply problem or heat. One of the biggest issues for solid state devices (transistors, chips, microcircuitry) is heat. Check your ventilation system. Look at the fan in the back of the case. Is it turning? Is it full of dust? Is war, air flowing freely? If you are comfortable with opening the case, check inside for dust. If there is a lot it needs cleaned out. On the cpu chip there is a fan and heat sink. the heat sink is a bunch of fins. Those can clog with dust preventing air from flowing and removing heat from the cpu. When that happens the system shuts down. On the power issue again heat could be causing a shutdown. Or a component could be failing, or a loose connector from the power supply to the Motherboard. Wiggle the connectors and make sure they are all secure.

Check the power settings in control panel, and make sure that the computer is not set to turn off in 10 minutes. Pay particular attention to the ‘System Standby’ setting.
