    Running windows XP and mcafee anti virus keeps popping up a window as windows boots saying my system has a virus and it can not be contained. What are my options here? Is there a way to remove the virus in safe mode or do I have to reformat my computer?

    Try running your antivirus in safe-mode. Viruses tend to be dormant in safe-mode.

    Let’s slow down a little bit here. Before you reformat your computer, you could try booting into safe mode and running your virus scan. Make sure you update your vscan before doing that, if you need to do it in safe mode, be sure to pick safe mode with networking. Also, as one person stated already, make sure you aren’t running two virus scans, that is never good. If you would like, try to uninstall the vscan you are using and try the kaspersky trial version. http://www.kaspersky.com/downloads If you are still unable to get rid of the virus, then it might be time to reformat. If you have a lot of time, though, you could try some other utilities such as superantispyware. http://www.superantispyware.com Good luck!
