Start the computer in safe mode with networking. (Tap F8 as it boots) Google Malware Bytes Anti Malware. Download, install, update and run.

    Good luck.

yes you can fix without reformatting. get a friend (or use another computer) to make a linux (cd-rom) boot disk that has an antivirus on it. boot your infected pc from that disc and run the antivirus.

Start computer, Then when you see the first thing or like a blue screen or what ever(before windows) repeatedly presss F8. This will give you many options. Choose Safe Mode with networking. Dw, everything might look big and ugly. Then go to your web browser, download Malware Bytes Anti- Malware, do a scan, just in case. Then download avast. Since u have Xp, you probably have 32 bit. after installing avast, it might say restart, do so. When you start it again, its gonna do a boot scan(check the whole hard drive b4 starting windows). if it detects soemthing u can press a key to get rid of it(it will be specified) then try logging in.

You need to get some decent anti virus software installed on you computer and then run a virus removal scan to get rid of it. If it’s a more malicious form of infection then you may need to involve tech support which is usually free from a reputable anti virus company. Use software such as McAfee or Norton.

Once clean use the software to run regular virus checks once a week on all applications especially e-mails and their attachments which should be done constantly.

    Regards, Kevin.

You don’t have to format to fix the virus.

Download the following programs on another computer and store them on a USB flash drive or burn them onto a cd.

    Get rkill.exe and malwarebytes.

Get into safe mode by turning off the computer and then turning it on and keep on tapping on the f8 key until a menu comes up with safe mode as a choice.

Copy rkill.exe from the flash drive or the cd and run it. Copy malwarebytes from the flash drive or cd and run it.

Reboot into normal mode and rerun malwarebytes again.

Get the free MSE, Microsoft Security Essentials for future protection and install it.

If you can’t get into safe mode, your hard drive can still be repaired with formatting by an expert.
