Help!: Our computer has a virus. How can we fix it and prevent it from happening again?
Rainy:The pictures have nothing to do with the content!!
We believe it’s a virus. We try and access differant web-sites and the screens keep changing. Also, we are finding strange icons on our desktop. We tried downloading a free microsoft virus protection package but it didn’t help. Should we take the computer in for repair or have a technician come to the house? This computer is a few years old and apparently the virus protection package that came with the system has expired. Help!!!!

Assuming you are using Windows, get Norton AnitVirus. It retails for and is sold at all department and computer stores. It will remove existing viruses, while protecting you from viruses in the future. Having a technician come to your house should only be the last straw, it’s very expensive and usually unnecessary.
If your computer is outdated, you could also just buy a new one. Just make sure you put antivirus software on it right away.

Download and run AVG Antivirus. it will find and quarantine all your viruses and its free
