i need to get a new anti virus for my computer but i am looking for one that is less expensive but also a good anti virus program. thanks.

AVG 9.0 its free and great also get Malwarebytes Anti-malware , free also , never pay for an anti-virus

I’m assuming you are a widows user, if so have you done a system restore? Do this first but if you have added any new software, you will have to reinstall it. You will not lose any docs, pics or music.
note: you should only use one anti-virus software.

For getting the best antivirus for your laptop you will have to check the top ten antivirus sites like http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/ they have the antiviruses versions of 2009 tested. As you mentioned you don’t have any internet connection!! For any update files all of theAnti virus manufacturers like Mcafee, Norton, Bitdefender (these are the major manufacturers) with others like Trend Micro, Panda, Gdata and kaspersky (are also not new in antivirus market) put the antivirus signature files online on there respective websites. But the only way in my knowledge is to download these files from internet, that means one or the other way you need any or some source to get to these files (e.g. in college or by a friend) and than you can copy these internet signature files on some cd-dvd or usb stick and you can then update antivirus software manually on your computer.
