Suppose a computer virus is launched over the internet. Each computer which is
infected attempts to pass on the virus by sending an email to exactly m other computers. A
computer whose anti-virus software is up to date will not be infected by the virus.
Suppose that 30 computers become infected by the virus (including the initial computer onto
which it is released) and that 661 computers stop the virus by having up to date anti-virus
software. How many computers in total received the virus? What was the value of m?

Maybe i don’t understand the question, but it seems to me the answer is simply m = 661 + 30 – 1.
