Computer virus causes a pop-up message on your screen, saying “system is shutting down in 60 seconds”, then starts counting off the seconds and then completely paralyzes your computer system. I need a virus fix for this kind of virus…Can anyone help?

Tons of viruses do this by invoking a Remote Procedure Call (RPC)….
Go to housecall.antivirus.com and have them scan your computer to get the name of the virus you are fighting.

a copy of a system file… if you do a virus scan, you will see something in the WINDOWS folder… go to safe mode and delete that version.. it’s usually in all capitals..

Yeah, sure!
download AVG anti-virus (it’s free, I believe) and run a system scan for viruses—if it detects any, it’ll erase them for you! It should give you the name of the virus you contracted, if you really want to know.

To prevent the shut down, do the following (steps 3 – 6 in under 60 seconds):
1. Disconnect the computer from the network/Internet connection. (Disconnect the cable if necessary.)
2. Restart the computer.
3. As soon as Windows opens and you see the Windows desktop, click Start > Run.
4. Type:
cmd
and press Enter.
5. Type:
shutdown -i
and press Enter.
6. In the Remote Shutdown Dialog that opens, do the following:
1. Click Add, type your computer name into the Add Computers dialog box, and then click OK.
2. In the “Display warning for” field, type 9999.
3. Type the following text in the Comment box:
Delay Lsass.exe shutdown.
4. Click OK.
7. Reconnect the network/Internet connection.
8. Connect to the Internet, and get the patch.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS04-011.mspx
then run ADAWARE or any other virus scanner to remove the virus.

first of all its a worm its not a virus. i am pretty sure its one of these. sasser worm or blaster worm.
Temporary fix for the worm.
when ever you get the pop up about RPC shutdown or crap follow these steps- DISCONNECT YOUR MODEM
1. press windows key / go to START
2. Click RUN
3. type “cmd” to enter command prompt
4. type this ” shutdown.exe -a”
5. this temporarily closes the RPC(remote Procedure Call).
6. if u want to shutdown your computer again go to command prompt by typing cmd and type “shutdown.exe -f”
7. go online by reconnecting your modem and go to micrsoft.com to search for a patch for the worm then download and install the patch.
Yippeeeeeeeeee now your computer is fine!!

You would probably want to run an online virus scan in safe mode.
You start by shutting down your PC, then, after you turn it back on, start hitting F8, eventually, this brings up a boot menu. One of the options is “Safe mode with networking” select this.
Once you get into windows (which will look kinda funny, btw) connect to the internet and go to http://housecall.trendmico.com and follow their instructions to scan and clean your PC for viruses.
After that finishes, restart normally and go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and get all the critical updates. There is a fix for that problem in there.

Goto Run > type Shutdown -a
The -a means abort.
Also, it’s not a real virus and it’s easy to create.
