@CherricoPottery just be honest and say it’s a streamline scanner for 2d images!

wow I don’t understad why HP advertised that you don’t need a camera, background and lighting when this photography and image quality on 3D objects is so crappy…….doesn’t even compare. HP you should probably stop lying to people like me who were once loyal customers. “outshining the competition is a big deal” – stop shelling out lies when you know as well as the competition that you’re 3d image quality is crap.

Cool. With the superb pictures this thing takes, I can finally sell my old sofa on Ebay!

It would be more convenient if they showed an actual image of a scanned object.

@auxdi Yeah, the only new thing it offers is convenience and a professional looking 2D image. That’s definitely a selling point. Think about all the people who sell things on eBay every week. With this, taking pictures of the goods is simple.

@mdhumpify Otherwise known as “taking a picture”. Haven’t we been taking 2D images of 3D objects for the past 150 years? What a lame marketing spin. Will anyone actually use this?

@correne31 It doesn’t scan in 3D, it allows you to produce a 2D scan of a 3D object.

The idea is kewl, but someone help me out here…Did I miss something? There’s alot of cute, colorful graphics flying around in this commercail, however, I didn’t catch ,not even ONE, example of a “3D scan”—I know this machine does other nice things, but the real pushing point is “top Shot-Capture images of 3-D objects” Shouldn’t we see examples?? They go on about such things as “wireless networking”..please, not new @ all… Show us the images it can take that sets it apart from other AIO’s.

@palita007 and @MarksManB It shouldn’t use any ink to scan. It’s a laser printer. Unlike an inkjet printer, it doesn’t need to clean a print head or prime a pump.

    19. MarksManB Says:
      December 21st, 2011 at 11:06 pm

@palita007 HP is notorious for their AIWs not working at all unless ink is available. If you have an empty cartridge, then you can’t scan. Where does the ink go if all I do is scan? Every time you turn on the AIW or even if you leave it on for a long time, the printer is designed to clean the print head which uses ink. So, in order to scan, your AIW uses ink. How much?

Wow looks awesome… always wanted one of these.. i wonder how much it cost…

@MarksManB why would you need ink to scan? Have you ever scanned anything in your life, cause it seems you have no idea how it works…

    22. MarksManB Says:
      December 22nd, 2011 at 1:03 am

I wonder how much ink it consumes to take a 3D scan, since no AIW printer can operate without cleaning the print head just to take a quick scan.
