Is it possible to use an HD LCD TV on my computer for everyday use?

I am thinking about purchasing an HD LCD TV for my computer to use as a monitor. There is currently a 17 inch LCD monitor connected to my PC and I also have my PC connected to my TV through the video Card. I can watch Videos and play Games on my PC using my TV but I cannot surf the Web or view documents on my TV because it is too distorted. What I would like to know is would an HD LCD TV have the same problems as my TV or would I be able to view documents and surf the web on the HD LCD TV without any distortion??

I don’ t know what they are calling PC ready, but what you would need is this DVI (Digital Video Interface). and from what you have lisited this isn’t on this TV.
Find one that has a DVI slot, (I assume you have a DVI graphic card). Then it would be easy to connect it over you would just need a DVI cable! I don’t know about distortion. But it shouldn’t be.

Seems your HD TV support DVI input, if you video card support DVI output, then done.

Yes it is possible. You just need to make the right cable for it.

I connected a 32″ LCD HDTV on a PC for a woman is visually impaired. This way the letters appear really big.

She is in her mid to late 80′s and she still writes and publishes books.

It would probably do; the PC compatibility is the thing. These days, the sets often come with a plethora of inputs, including a standard PC monitor input.

The TV you describe would work better than a standard TV, true, but still not as well as a computer monitor. The resolution is 1366×768; you’d have to check and see if your video card supports that resolution (LCD’s distort a bit if you try to display something other than the native resolution). I use 1280×1024 on my 19″ monitor, for example; that’s a very standard resolution. You also don’t mention the refresh rate — less important for a TV you’re sitting back from and watching movies on, but rather important for reading text on close up, as you do a monitor. You would also need a PC-to-HDTV converter (unless your video card already has HDMI outputs, which is what you’d need for the higher resolution display; not very common for PC’s — otherwise you’d just be getting the same TV quality you have now). Given how cheap monitors are these days, it would be far simpler just to get the monitor. Though, if you’re using a standard TV now as a monitor, I suppose it would still be an upgrade. (Your poor eyes.)

It depends. If your video card only has VGA and S-video outputs, then yes, the LCD TV would be just as bad. If you have DVI outputs on your video card, then you should be okay. You can buy a DVI to HDMI cable on newegg.com for ~, which is what I use. It isn’t as clear as a standard monitor, but it’s MUCH better than a standard definition TV.

But if you connect it via S-video, again, it will look no better than your current TV. It might be a little difficult to read the really small text, but you can always increase the default font size, or press ctrl while you scroll your mouse, which increases text size.
