If you had a lot of friends who had blogs on different blogging sites (like WordPress, Google Blogger, Moveable Type) you would generally have to go to each blog’s Web site every day to check whether they have posted any new blog entries. That would be a waste of time (especially if your friends didn’t post blog entries very often).
What information technologies could we use to make it easier to keep track of when new blog posts were made and which blog posts we had read and which we haven’t read?

Question–: Using content from other sites…Legalities?
I am building a web portal. I want to be able to offer information about finances, technology, health, etc. Of course I can’t produce all the content to support the viewers.
Can I use content from other websites/blogs and have a link back to the blog/website.
Do I have to ask for permission since I’m including their link?
For example YAHOO use content from other blogs and websites frequently.

If you want to display the content from other websites/blogs, you need to ask for their permission. However, if you just link the content (like Google Search), you don’t need permission.

Generally you can include a excerpt from the other persons site, but to reproduce the information in whole without permission is theft. If your site does it not only is it breaking the law but you will lose all your visitors. You need original content plain and simple.
