Hi,I did the following:,In the blog: Computer Technology ,Not’s about Flight Watch Buying Guide Blog.
Wonderful website:
flickrfavr – a flickr app. explore favorites of favorites

A flickr app I wrote over the weekend. Check it out
View the favorite photos of your own favorites and discover great photos in a new way.
Flickrfavr is a browser-based HTML/Javascript application to view your favorites’ favorites. Your favorites (grouped by contact) are displayed as thumbnails on the left. Favorites of that contact are displayed on the right, three to a row, most recent first. Click an image to view a larger version with accompanying text. Images load seamlessly as you scroll. If you like the favorites of a particular user, click a link to load more. If you authenticate with Flickr, you can make a fave’s fave your own fave from within the website.
Comments and feedback are welcome and appreciated.
Thanks & enjoy. acm
12/31/09: Faves added in flickrfavr automatically added to the top of the page
12/29/09: View on white / view on black
12/28/09: Non-authentication support—enter Flickr email address
12/28/09: Visual change log added
12/25/09: Images added since user’s last visit tagged visually with NEW
12/21/09: Initial public release

As the official website of a popular band, you’d expect a more interactive website than most. Or you’d at least expect some content to show up.
Unfortunately for Portishead, one of my favorite bands of all time, they have neither. In fact, when first loading this page, I wasn’t even sure you could do anything except stare at a 7 P’s that are supposedly transforming into the number 3 (and yet never do).
Don’t even get me started on the accessibility of this site (or lack there of). But c’mon people, are we still not smart enough to shy away from "mystery meat navigation" on websites, even in 2008? So I have to roll over each of the 7 P’s to find out where the link goes? And 3 out of the 7 links are to a completely different website? Fantastic.
Portishead’s new album, Third, drops in just a few weeks, and I was truly hoping for a better online experience than "complete crap." Here’s to hoping the album doesn’t compare.

Wonderful website:

Denna’s website was built with content in mind, but not the way most sites are. It doesn’t use a backend CMS or publishing system, but instead gathers up Denna’s content from sites like Flickr, Upcoming and Ma.gnolia, and then presents them here as well, reusing the data that she’s been creating all along. Simple, smart, and easy. And very well designed on top of it all. For more on how it was designed and built, read the colophon (trust me, it’s worth it).

Over the last few months at Maplesoft, I have been working on this website called MaplePrimes. We are officially launching the site today and I thought that I’d like to share the site with Flickr. If you are interested in seeing the development of a cool new mathematically focused community, please check it out. Below is the official announcement:
A new website beta.mapleprimes.com has been created to offer a moderated community for Maple users to communicate and share techniques with each other. The site is sponsored by Maplesoft, though most of the content is expected to be contributed by the user community.
Two of the most significant features of MaplePrimes are moderated forums and weblogs (blogs).
The forums function much like comp.soft-sys.math.maple and other public Maple forums, where people can post their questions and have them answered by the community. The difference is that the MaplePrimes forums will be monitored and moderated by Maplesoft selected community members. And for questions that the user community cannot answer, Maplesoft developers will be there to help as well.
The blogs allow any user to share their experiences with Maple and mathematics. MaplePrimes provides a place where like minded people can show off their latest findings, share Maple procedures or chat about their favorite theorems.
Throughout the site many special features are available. The most interesting is the ability to post mathematics in 2D notation like you would find in a textbook. It is as easy as either entering MathML or the Maple syntax for the math you want to appear.
Overall, we would like MaplePrimes to become the first complete Mathematical portal. MaplePrimes should allow anyone with any Math knowledge get help and share what they find. We have a number of ideas in development that will add to this.
Please go and check it out at http://beta.mapleprimes.com. I hope that you will find the site to be very useful and come back to visit often.

With a website called Freshest, the design needs to live up to the name, and this one does. The quiet background texture is fantastic, as is the simple layout used. Typography is solid, though the contrast on links is not great, and the large image on the left works well with the content.

Yeshhhhhh!
I was upset at their website, too. But perhaps putting out a new album will drive money spent on a cool and engaging site! One can only hope…
June 22nd, 2011 at 1:58 pm
PPPPPPPish.
Great band though, I only hope their new album is more inspiring than their site.
June 22nd, 2011 at 2:50 pm
Agreed. Music sites still get it so wrong. I think they try too hard to be artsy and creative in a space that no one wants them to be artsy and creative in.
June 22nd, 2011 at 3:20 pm
God forbid we have any artsiness or creativity relating to music!
More Matchbox 20 and Ocean Colour Scene over here, bartender! Cos it does what it says on the tin, innit?
In all seriousness, even Vincent Flanders says that promo sites for bands, albums and movies are excused from having to make sense. I’m as usability / standards / traditional as anyone else when it comes to making Serious Public Sites, but music sites are like little online art exhibitions, an extension of the album design or the videos (or vice versa….) and you know? That’s kinda cool.
And for everything else, there’s Facebook.

Great site.. Did you already make some publicity on it at drupal.org.
Maple is a BIG company, and any succes stories of this size should be visible on drupal.org

The background image (I suppose they’re leaves?) has a nice little effect when you resize the window. Not the parallax effect we’ve seen so much lately, but more of a way to ensure the background has some stretch for wider screens. Interesting use of transparent PNGs, but the background image could have just been made wider.
June 22nd, 2011 at 4:50 pm
Very nice. I love the color scheme. The texture of the background really makes this pop. I am having a slight bit of trouble reading the links though. This is probably just my monitor though. All around this is a nice page.
June 22nd, 2011 at 5:00 pm
Nice find Hatrick Paney! I’m a big fan of paper textures especially. It’d be really cool if they used a more natural brushed typeface over Helvetica.
June 22nd, 2011 at 5:36 pm
I agree with you in most of your comments. I think this website has a "nice" logo concept, but used poorly throughout the site. And also the big Web Design headline and that button… they just do not belong there.
Colors look good. Transparencies… I pass. =)
Finally I dare to offer my feedback, hope you don’t mind, Patrick!:
- Design: 6 / 10
- Usability: 4 / 10
- Overall look: 6 / 10
Nice find! Although not the best design out there xD

Clean and simple. Really dig this one from a simplistic perspective.
