    Question: What video streaming technology does YouTube use?

    Rainy:The pictures have nothing to do with the content!!
    I am curious to know what kind of video streaming technology YouTube uses. I’m talking about the embedded players that have the YouTube brand on them that can be put into any blog or web site. I was interested in exploring this for my business–I already have a windows media server and both .wmv and .mov videos to upload–but what do I need to do to make them look like they do on YouTube? (That is, you just click the play button in the window and they stream.) Is there some software or 3rd party service out there that I can use that will take my streaming .wmv’s, brand them, and make them awailable as YouTube-esque videos?

    It is a flash based media player made specifically for them.

    You could write your own version using flash.

    it is flash video, you can download from youtube with “Quivic” and burn to MPG files then play in Windows Media player.

    YouTube uses a proprietary player that utilizes the Flash Video Format (.flv). The video user interface is designed with Flash. There are plenty of free Flash based players available on the internet. You would just need to convert your Windows Media file to the Flash Video format using the native design environment, Macromedia Flash.
